Get to Know the Artist - a little bit about Rachel

Over the last few weeks Rachel has been painting our beautiful valley for our auction and has completely fallen in love with the area. Here is a little bit about Rachel…

Rachel grew up on the south coast near Brighton. Her memories of her childhood are of the cliffs, sea views, a quiet, peaceful environment and riding ponies on the beach. This pony riding developed into a love of horses and she moved to Newmarket to work with horses.

During this time she was involved in a major motorbike accident. After the accident she had a strong urge to start drawing and, now living in Chevington, the beautiful landscape and working outside reminded her of her childhood, and drawing quickly became painting.

Rachel loves to work 'out in the elements' - wind, rain, sun, snow are all fine for her. She paints quickly as she likes to capture the moment, especially of sunrise and sunset, as she says every moment is unique and special. This results in stunning paintings that capture the views around her.

In addition to painting, Rachel also loves to play the violin and she can be found playing on the streets or at markets, just for fun.
